Colorado FAMLI replaces 90 % of the first $804.46 of your average weekly wage and 50 % of everything above, up to a maximum of $1,448.02 a week from July 1, 2026. Both figures come from the state average weekly wage, set at $1,608.91 on that date: the first tier is half of it, the cap 90 % of it. Before July the cap was $1,381.45. Anyone whose weekly wage tops $2,252 gets the maximum. For pay of $46,000 a year, FAMLI works out to around $764 weekly, and $78,000 yields around $1,072. Most workers can take up to 12 weeks a year, and those with pregnancy or childbirth complications up to 4 more. The 2026 premium is 0.88 % of wages up to $184,500, split evenly between worker and employer at firms with 10 or more employees, and it falls to 0.86 % on January 1, 2027.
A July year
The FAMLI Division resets the state average weekly wage each July 1, so the benefit limits change in the middle of the calendar year. From July 1, 2026, that wage is $1,608.91, which moves the end of the 90 % tier to $804.46 and the maximum to $1,448.02 (FAMLI rules and guidance). A leave that started in the spring was paid under the earlier cap of $1,381.45.
In plain terms, the Division describes the formula this way: the first $804.46 of your average weekly wage is replaced at 90 %, the rest at 50 %, up to the maximum (FAMLI premium and benefits calculator). For $78,000 a year, $1,500 a week, that gives $1,072, about 71 % of gross pay.

12 weeks, more after a difficult birth
Most employees are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid leave in a year, shared among the covered reasons. Someone who has pregnancy or childbirth complications may receive up to 4 additional weeks (FAMLI FAQs). Medical leave for a complicated pregnancy, 16 weeks at $78,000, is estimated at $12,861. The calculator treats the extra weeks as available only for your own health. Bonding weeks taken by the same parent after the birth come out of the regular allowance, so a parent who used part of it for prenatal complications has fewer weeks left for the baby.
A shared premium that goes down in 2027
The premium in 2026 is 0.88 % of wages: 0.44 % paid by the employee and 0.44 % by the employer, for employers with 10 or more employees. It applies up to the federal Social Security wage cap of $184,500. A worker on $46,000 pays about $202 for the year. From January 1, 2027 the total rate drops to 0.86 %, so the deduction shrinks slightly.
Using it with other leave
FAMLI pays a benefit; whether your job is held depends on your tenure and on other laws. The FMLA and paid leave page compares the two. FAMLI benefits for family reasons are federal taxable income under Revenue Ruling 2025-4, and the medical side is taxable for the half funded by your employer. The state by state comparison sets Colorado next to the other programs.
